Seth MacFarlane Residence | First In-Home IMAX Theater

Extensively covered by publications like Forbes, Hollywood Reporter, Grantland, and Curbed LA, the Seth MacFarlane residence in Beverly Hills, CA was widely reported to be the first private residence to install a full-IMAX theater system. MacFarlane originally bought the $13.5 million home in 2008, turning the 5,152 square-foot mansion into a sizeable 10,000+ sq. ft. estate.

While IMAX originally did not have a private residence line of business—nor accommodate such measures—as the first, there were unique engineering challenges in order to pioneer the future of luxury home cinema. According to IMAX, each aspect of the bespoke system had to be independently designed for the precise specifications and ensure “the optimal viewing environment by engineering the room’s shape and seating placement to fully exploit the features of the legendary IMAX screen, which is curved and spans from floor to ceiling and wall to wall.” Subsequently, IMAX launched a private theatre unit upon the success of such an engineering marvel.
