University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) | Lake Arrowhead Conference Center

The UCLA Lake Arrowhead Conference Center is an IACC-certified commercial facility nestled within the San Bernardino National Forest, just outside of Los Angeles, California. Complete with dining, overnight accommodations, exercise and sports facilities, an amphitheater, and over 10,000 sq. ft. of conference space, the marquee retreat was named best conference center in North America (2017) by Unique Venues. Originally a high-end resort for Hollywood’s rich and famous, the UCLA Convention Center underwent renovations to modernize the facility, gearing more towards business audiences and corporate retreats.

California Energy Designs served as the mechanical engineer, designing the HVAC and Plumbing systems for the facility during the extensive renovation process. With room for over 200 guests and 15 separate meeting rooms, the 42-acre Conference Center required a comprehensive approach to meet its broader energy needs with a fully-redeveloped system design. The Lake Arrowhead facility also implemented additional sustainability efforts, with water-saving efforts being a primary focus for its plumbing system, a response to the location’s extended drought. Energy-efficient appliances, including LED lighting, Energy Star appliances, and HVAC sensors were installed to conserve and reduce resource waste.
